Getting back up
If you know me well enough, you probably know that I’m a big fan of the Olympics. So as you can imagine, having to work during times when they’re showing Olympic events has been hard for me. Okay not really, because I’ve been taping some of it, but still. Anyway, I was watching the pairs' figure skating finals last night, and saw something that was incredible. Zhang Dan and Zhang Hao, from China, were performing their free skate when Dan fell after a throw. She must have hurt her knee pretty badly (I know how that goes), because they stopped their program. However, their trainer gave her the go ahead to finish their program, and that’s exactly what they did. They went back there and skated around until the music got to the point where they stopped, and finished their routine. Not only did they finish their routine, but it was almost perfect! Despite a 1-point deduction, they still managed to finish in second place and win the silver medal. Now that’s dedication! It made me think back to times when I backed out of something because I was hurting or just didn’t feel like doing it. Anyway, I guess the point I’m trying to make is sometimes you just have to suck it up and finish what you’ve started.
Oh, if you wanna read about their performance, click here. It’s the link to the story on the NBC Olympics website. I’m not sure, but they might have a video of the Zhangs’ performance as well.
Until next time,
