One step closer

I had my "final interview" with the bishop today. During my interview, we went over my mission papers, which are basically done except for the medical forms, which I'll have on Monday. Another thing I still need to do is take a picture of myself dressed in a suit and "properly groomed." There's a prolblem with this, though: my hair. I got it cut on Wednesday, and I knew that it was shorter than I wanted, but it turns out that it's also too short to meet the missionary standards. This shouldn't be a problem when I leave, since it should grow out enough in the next few weeks, but it does pose a problem now. Fortunately, the bishop said that he'd write a note explaining that it was essentially a "barbershop mishap". The reason for it being so short is because I forgot that I didn't get my last haircut at Great Clips, so the info they had in their computer was from the haircut I got during my week off from Ransburg back at the beginning of July. Just to give you something to compare it to, here's what it looks like now (sorry about the shininess, but that's what the lighting in my dorm room does to the webcam):

Anyway, once I get the health forms and the picture turned in, all I'll have to do is be interviewed by the stake president and then my papers will be sent in! I'm very excited about it. I do have some feelings about where I'm going to be sent, but I've only told a couple of people because I don't wanna jinx it. Yeah, right, like that would make a difference. Either way, I'd be happy wherever they send me.

Oh, one last thing. I'm sure by now you're all wondering how I'm gonna post if I'm gone for 2 years. Well, I've come up with a solution. Before I leave, I'm going to give someone else access to my blog, and when I'm on my mission, I'll periodically write letters specifically intended to be posted here. I'm not sure yet who I'm gonna give access to, but I'll figure it out in the next couple of weeks. Also, if any of y'all want me to write you when I'm gone, please BE SURE that I have your address!!!

Until next time,

~David~
