If I were at camp, these would be normal
OK I started this list as a comment on Liz's Xanga, but decided to finish it here so I wouldn't be monopolizing her site. It started out as a list of 6, but now it's known as
The Top Ten Out-of-Camp Experiences (in no particular order)
1. Whenever someone asks "How (insert adjective) was it?" (or something to that effect), the first thing I think is "So (insert adjective) that it goes all the way across the lake..." The funniest times are when I actually start to say it before I catch myself.
2. A couple times when I was walking/driving through Muncie, and saw a pothole (which isn't hard to do in Muncie), I thought and/or said "Eeww, a hole!"
3. I was playing the game "Imagineiff" where you pick a card, and it will say something like "Imagine if (someone playing the game) was a car. What kind of car would he/she be?", and the first thing I thought was how I could make "If I were a car" work in the Jellyfish song.
4. (it's not really a camp song, but) I now sing along with "Hollaback Girl" whenever I hear it, after only hearing the song once before the summer.
5. I still sometimes say something is "janky" or use the phrase "oh, sick", which I never used to do outside of camp.
6. Someone told me they were going to a state park down by Bloomington for fall break. I asked if it was Brown County, and they said no. Then they said it was Spring something, and I replied "Oh yeah, it's Spring Hill State Park." After I thought for a second, I realized that Spring Mill is the state park, and Spring Hill, is a campsite on Ridge 4.
7. When I hear the sirens tested at 11:00 on Fridays up here @ BSU, the first thing I think is, this isn't the first Friday of the month. Then I realize that I'm not at camp, and I don't have to do anything when the siren sounds, even if it was the real thing.
8. Whenever I hear the slow clapping that gradually gets faster and faster, I look around to see where the M ceremony is about to be busted out. (OK I don't actually look around, but I do think about it)
9. Today when I was walking to AJ, I heard a squeaky-braked car, and it reminded me of someone pumping on a Fire-by-friction set. I heard voices in my head say "more pressure!"
10. My brother was talking about how each time he needs to talk about George Washington in his history notes, he writes it a different way. When he said this, I asked him if he had used Jorge Washington. He thought about it for a minute, didn't get it, and then I said "Watch out for the plutonium!" and he got it right away. (He was at camp during week 6)
These are just the first 10 things that came to my mind at the moment. I'm sure there are many many more! Any of you who worked at Ransburg this summer, or in summers past, feel free to add your thoughts!
Until next time,
~David~

oh my goodnesss thats funny! every time i see the word plutonium (and i see it A LOT) i always think of the skit. and all the songs for friday nights campfire still play on the radio...so that is really rough for me. i also always think of "sugar?" in a high piched voice and i really dont know why. but i never really realized that so many people have these songs embedded in their thoughts...
Well I did the whole "your mom" and "that's what your mom said" things before I worked at camp, but then I had pretty much stopped. So yeah, I guess camp did bring those out again.
There was something else I was gonna add to this list... Oh yeah...
11. Every time I see a golf cart or Mule-like vehicle, I think "hey, I've been trained to drive one of those!"
dude those are frickin hilarous and man i am really missin camp right now. I keep getting pictures of you guys dancing on stage with Numa Numa playing.Hope your having a great school year.
Oh yes... the Time Machine skit finds it way into my conversations regularly. "Plutonium? You're not foolin'!"
